The InterFaith Concert's--30th Anniversary

of The InterFaith Conference of Metropolitan Washington

honoring the interfaith work of

Cardinal Theodore McCarrick

and joining with T.E.D. & Karen Armstrong's "Charter for Compassion"

November 17th at Washington Hebrew Congregation

7:30 to 9:00 p.m.

The popular Mormon Choir of Washington ... the Kol Rinah Chori of Washington Hebrew Congregation ... traditional Sikh call-and-response singers from the Golden Temple in India and from DC ... the Dayspring Choir of Metropolitan Memorial Church ... a rising young singer from the Iskon Temple (Hindu) of Potomac--Gaura Vani with As Kindred Spirits ... and a combined choir led by Eleanor Epstein, founder of renowned Zemer Chai: Jewish Community Choir

This event is a feast of color, sight and sound, a mingling of people of widely differing religions, all in one place to make joyful music with and for each other.  Greater Washington Interfaith Power & Light is co-sponsor.  And the event is followed by A Taste of Heaven--an amazing dessert bar with contributions from the different faith groups and their native cultures.

"The InterFaith Conference is the ground on which we all stand, the umbrella which brings us all together."  (Cardinal Theodore McCarrick)

The InterFaith Conference of Metropolitan Washington

The InterFaith Conference was founded in 1978 by Jewish, Muslim, Protestant and Roman Catholic leaders.  Now, 31 years later, it is composed of eleven historic religions--Baha'i, Buddhist, Hindu, Jain, Jewish, Latter-day Saints (Mormon), Muslim, Protestant (various), Roman Catholic, Sikh and Zoroastrian.  The IFC brings clergy, lay leaders and members of these and more religions together for mutual education, discussion & discovery, dialogue, and collaboration.  In these times, when religious differences often seem behind the worst of world strife, The InterFaith Conference helps these very different religions use their differences in common peacemaking and community building.  It seeks to make the Washington metropolitan region a model community in the very best of active religious pluralism.
